tempera, paper, 48 x 36 cm
Born in Miastko, Poland. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk, from which he graduated in1987, in the studio of K. Ostrowski. The artist practices encaustic, a specific ancient painting technique, in which pigments mixed with beeswax (binder) were applied hot to the substrate using heated spatulas or brushes. Encaustic paints are characterized by resistance to moisture, color fastness, but are subject to deterioration when exposed to excessive heat. A technique used in ancient Egypt (portraits of El Fajum), Greece, Rome, abandoned in the Middle Ages. Attempts were made to revive it in the Renaissance and in the 19th, now it is considered forgotten. K. Gliszczynski's drawings often resemble rock paintings or hieroglyphs.
