Poland, Cepelia; 2nd half of the 20th century.
Boguslaw Heczko was born in 1927 in Ustroń; as he himself emphasized, he had been creating since elementary school. He first presented his works at a solo exhibition in 1961 at the Company House of Culture in Ustroń, and since then he has presented his works at dozens more exhibitions, not only in Poland, but also in Paris, Germany and Belgium.
At the end of the 1970s, Boguslaw Heczko became co-founder and president of the "Brzimy" art group in Wisla, and from 1993 he was active in the "Brzimy" Creative Association in Ustroń. In the meantime, he founded the gallery "Na Gojach" with his son Kazimierz, which he expanded over time by opening a collective gallery of Ustroń artists in the Museum of Metallurgy and Forging in Ustroń and a similar facility in the Natural Treatment Facility.
The artist was known for his large number of works in watercolor, but during his career he also created sketches, pencil or ink drawings. Most of his works were about wooden architecture from the area of Cieszyn Silesia. His works were treated not only, as a kind of art, but also, as a form of excellent documentation of architectural monuments of the region. He also created graphic art works, such as the coat of arms of Ustroń (1956) and albums such as "Churches and Chapels" and "Former Ustroń."
His work was appreciated not only locally, but also globally. This is evidenced by numerous invitations to foreign exhibitions, the award of the Knight's Cross of the Order of Rebirth of Poland (1997), the Golden Badge "For the Care of Monuments" (1997), and in 200 being honored with the Laurel of Silver Těšínanka, the highest award in the region of Cieszyn Silesia.
