Painter, born in Cracow, died in Katowice. While still in high school, he took part in the Third Silesian Uprising as a volunteer. He studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of W. Jarocki and F. Pautsch, he supplemented his studies at the Drawing Teachers Training College at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. After graduation, he took a teaching job in art education as a teacher of drawing and painting. He spent the years of occupation abroad (Palestine, South Africa). He exhibited his works in Hungary, Yugoslavia, Egypt and South Africa, among others. His favorite motifs were landscapes, he also painted still lifes and genre scenes. He practiced oil painting, using a rich palette of colors, laid down with quick, bold brushstrokes.
