Biography
Alfred Aberdam (1894 Lviv - 1963 Paris) - Polish painter member of the Group of Independent Artists. He was born in Lviv. In 1913-14 he studied at the academy in Munich. Then he studied from 1921 to 1923 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Teodor Axentowicz. He continued his studies in Berlin in the studio of Alexander Archipenko. In 1923 he went to Paris, where he became associated with the Ecole de Paris circle. Together with Sigmund Menkes, Joachim Weingart, Leon Weissberg, he formed the "Group of Four." He painted landscapes, figural scenes and still lifes, as well as scenes of music-making and theatrical interiors. He exhibited at the Autumn Salons in Paris, Galerie Zak and Bernheim-Jeune, among others, and at exhibitions of Polish art in Paris, Lviv, Cracow and Warsaw. He was a member of the Group of Independent Artists. His paintings are exhibited at the National Museum in Warsaw, the Tel-Aviv Museum and the Israel Museum in Jerusalem, among others.
