Biography
Studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow under Leon Wyczółkowski and Jan Stanislawski, among others, and later in Vienna and Munich. He traveled extensively, including to Rome, Crimea, Palestine and Egypt, and documented these trips with many landscapes and sketches. He lived permanently in Lviv, where there is now a museum dedicated to him. He painted portraits, atmospheric landscapes and genre scenes. His paintings, valued and sought after by collectors, were always very popular. He collaborated as an illustrator with many magazines. He also practiced art criticism.
