Biography
Studied at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts in 1900-08 under Florian Cynk, Jozef Mehoffer, Leon Wyczółkowski, Jozef Pankiewicz and Jan Stanislawski. He exhibited at the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Krakow and Lviv, and at the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts (from 1903). He is considered one of the most outstanding students of Jan Stanislawski. He painted with oil paints, as well as watercolor, in which he achieved impressive, atmospheric effects. In the early period of his career, he also worked in printmaking. His artistic oeuvre is dominated by mountain landscapes depicted most often in winter robes. Still lifes often appear, as well as Baltic landscapes of Jastrzębia Gora or Rozewie, created in the 1930s.
