Jan Lenica (1928-2001) - visual artist, screenwriter, art critic, director of animated films. He was one of the founders of the Polish poster school. He presented his posters, drawings and graphics in many exhibitions at home and abroad. He received many awards for his artwork (including at the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, the Karlovy Vary Film Festival). Lenica worked closely with Walerian Borowczyk in the first period of creating animated films. Both artists are considered today as pioneers of surrealist cinema of the absurd. His father was painter Alfred Lenica, his sister Danuta Konwicka was an illustrator of children's books, and his wife Teresa Byszewska was an artist, creating original collages and graphics.
