Gabriel Zendel - painter, representative of the Ecole de Paris. Born in Ježovy (present Czech Republic) in 1906, died in 1992 in Paris. In the 1920s his family moved to Paris, where his father opened an artistic bookbinding atelier. From 1925 to 1929, Gabriel Zendel studied at the Institut d'Esthétique Contemporaine under the tutelage of Paul Bornet. In 1934, Zendel opened his atelier in Montmartre, and his works were popular with collectors. In 1951, the artist entered into a relationship with the Durand-Ruel gallery, which exhibited his works in Paris and New York. He participated in numerous group and solo exhibitions.
