Linocut, paper, 70x50 cm in light passe-partout
The work took part in the post-competition exhibition of the National Art Biennale 46th Winter Salon at the Center for Contemporary Art Elektrownia in Radom 2021. The graphic was made on paper in linocut technique and measures 70x50cm. The work shows three fragmentary outlines of human silhouettes, two male and one female. The outline of the male torso is turned to the right side, from where the female body "overlaps" it. In a horizontal line, near the center of the graphic is the outline of the male hips. These elements are marked on the graphic by softly guided white lines, which stand out clearly against the dark background. The background of the composition is not uniformly black, but filled with densely fine dots, which seem like a noise absorbing human silhouettes. The main elements of the composition are the outlines of naked bodies, which, acting on each other, create a narrative, although it is up to the observer to decide the direction this narrative will take. The silhouettes may bring to mind film frames folded together, which, taken out of context, create their own intimate space. "Nude" by Magdalena Piwko-Chudzik is also noteworthy for its technical aspects, such as the plasticity of the lines or the evenness of the dotting on the background plane.
