bronze, height 21 cm, signed on the back "Pinedo" and mark "Pinedo bronzes Paris" in an oval
Small cabinet sculpture with the figure of a smiling young girl - Lys, shown in bust, with her head slightly turned to the left, her hair combed high and pinned up in a bun. On a low pedestal at the front in a cartouche is the model's name "Lys," while on the reverse is the artist's signature and the foundry company's stamp.Emil Pinedo (1840 - 1916) was a popular turn-of-the-century French sculptor, creator of elaborate genre compositions, portraits, animal depictions, as well as fine luxury applied art. His sculptures are still present on the antiquarian market and are quite popular. The one on display is a good example of luxury Art Nouveau in spirit and form, an intimate cabinet sculpture.
