In 1924 the Bank of Lithuania decided to issue notes worth 500 and 1000 litas. The sitting of the General Board of the Bank on December 11, 1924, decided that the pattern by V. Jomantas and A. Galdikas were to be used. 500 litas notes came into use on September 28, 1925, and 1000 litas notes on January 23, 1926. More information about the first litas notes here.

Size: 224 x 109 mm.

Face and back together, on one plate of card-stock.

In 2014, the english auction house SPINK sold photographic archives of nowadays nonexistent printing works BRADBURY WILKINSON & CO. These archives included photographic copies of projects of notes, which were to be printed, but the project resulted in failure and, as a result, these notes never went into circulation.
