No alphabet or number for this "Specimen" check with an impressive large format (approx. 33cm x 18cm) from the Ottoman period, with no signature or writing on the front. There is a "Specimen BW & Co London" perforation on the lower part of the bill, with "Banque Impériale Ottomane" written in French only. The reverse features a green printed rosette and the words "1891 Specimen" in pencil on the check stub on the right-hand side. There is no record of this type of check from the 19th century.
