Second edition of Alexander Brückner's monumental work. The first three volumes constituting the whole left the printing presses just before the outbreak of war and for obvious reasons did not enter distribution. They were preserved through the occupation together with the hitherto unpublished fourth volume, which remained in manuscript, and which, printed after the war, was added to the surviving pieces from 1939, and thus in 1946 a uniformly bound set, complete with the first printing of the last volume, appeared for sale.
