Krzysztof Dunin-Wąsowicz, prisoner of Stutthof Concentration Camp no. 36090, arrested with his brother on April 13, 1944 in Warsaw for conspiratorial activities. The first edition of this book was published in 1946, and this edition, as one might expect, contains the freshest picture of the workings of the German Stutthof concentration camp. Later editions of the memoirs were expanded and enriched by the author with new findings and documents, but this first one can be considered particularly recommendable, precisely because of the freshness of the view and the memory of a former prisoner that has been preserved.
