Painted and glazed porcelain, dimensions approx. 22 x 30 x 12 cm, Amphora factory, Turn-Toeplitz, signed on the underside with an impression in the mass "Amphora", "Austria", crown and number 8292 and letter G, Austria, early 20th century.
Full-figure figure of a polar bear in painted and glazed porcelain. The author of the model is Otto Jarl (1856-1915), a prominent sculptor-animalist of Swedish origin, educated in Uppsala and Vienna, who made a series of animal representations that were models for porcelain figures. He worked not only with the Amphora factory, but also with Meissen and other leading porcelain precipitators. His casts of bronze sculptures are also well-known and highly regarded.
