White glazed porcelain.
Porcelain factory in Ćmielów, design from 1933-1939 (most likely made during WWII).
Height: 21.5 cm.
The offered exemoplane is most likely a model version of the figure, before the application of the Ćmielów marks and painting.
According to a family account, the figure was supposedly given to Rudolf Mękicki by one of the factory's employees. The object comes from the collection of Rudolf Mękicki (1887-1942) - a Lviv designer, medallion maker and heraldist, for many years curator of the J. Sobieski Museum in Lviv.
Tadeusz Szafran (1886-1955) - Polish ceramic artist. In 1905-1910 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, among others with Leon Wyczółkowski. He expanded his knowledge of ceramics in 1913 at the Königliche Keramische Fachschule in Höhr near Koblenz. In 1921, he began working as a teacher at the State School of Artistic Industry in Cracow, where he headed the ceramics studio there. He trained many outstanding artists associated with artistic ceramics.
After the Second World War, he moved to Boleslawiec, where he launched ceramic factories and developed recipes for ceramic masses and glazes.
