Very rare follis with a nice green patina.

Aelia Flaccilla (379-388, wife of Theodosius I), Follis 379-383, Heraclea mint

Obverse: diademed and draped bust right

AEL FLACCILLA AVG

Reverse: Victory seated right, inscribing Chi-Rho on shield set on stand, SMHA in exergue

Aelia Flaccilla the first wife of Theodosius the Great, born in Spain, daughter of Antonius, prefect of Gaul, she was celebrated for her piety, and for her benevolence to the poor. Arcadius and Honorius were her sons by the above named emperor, who married her before his accession to the imperial throne. She died in Thrace, A. D. 388. Her brass coins are of the lowest degree of rarity, her gold and silver most rare.
