Sigismund II Augustus, Half-penny 1547, Vilnius - older type of Pogon - LI/LITVA - rare and beautiful
Fifth type Eagle and seventh type Pogo - rare.
Inscribed variety with the king's titulature on the obverse ending in .... LI and an obverse inscription on the reverse ending in ... LITVA
Condition: NGC MS63
Asuperbly struck and preserved coin. Intense luster and mint mirror throughout. Mint condition of the coin confirmed by a very high NGC grade. A rare, and for the 1547 vintage very rare, combination of type five stamps for the Eagle and type seven stamps for the Pogo (unfortunately, unlike previous RRR issues, undervalued in the latest edition of the catalog). In this state of preservation, the coin is very rare and very difficult to obtain on the collector's market. Abeautiful piece for discerning collectors.
