With a top slightly wavy on the sides, fluted on the front, recessed in the middle, with five deep pair drawers on the sides and one in the middle with a concave face, with a recess for knees, supported on four cabriole legs. All veneered, inlaid, decorated with porcelain plaques and brass hardware in Rococo style. On the tabletop an inlaid idyllic scene in the landscape depicting against a background of rocks, fancifully
imagined goats with a shepherd by a pine tree.
Furniture was decorated with various types of porcelain plaques from the 18th century onward, especially popular in France, Germany and England. Rococo-inspired and classical furniture of the 19th century also liked to use porcelain plaques to decorate it. These pieces of furniture were very popular as highly decorative products. However, not all of them had a high level of workmanship, like the presented desk.
