Biography
In 1949 he began his studies at the Poster Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He was inspired, especially in his later period, by the achievements of the Constructivist Russian avant-garde of the 1920s and the Polish Blok grouping. Roman Cieślewicz's most outstanding works include: posters including Stone Sky (1959), illustrations to Bruno Schulz's Cinnamon Shops (1963), series of photomontages including Monstra (1969). Winner of many awards including: Award of the Minister of Culture and Art for lifetime achievement in the field of posters (1961).
