Biography
He was a student of Wojciech Gerson and Antoni Kamienski at the Warsaw Drawing Class. After his studies, he lived permanently in Warsaw, from where he went on plein-air painting trips, including to Ukraine (in 1875-86). His fascination with the landscape and folklore there caused him to paint many genre paintings with Cossack figures. In 1886 he stayed in Munich; after 1900 he traveled several times to Italy and Paris. In 1912 and 1922 he made an artistic trip to Sicily and Tunis. He was a member of art groups - TZSP, T.A.P. "Sztuka", the Circle of Polish Watercolorists and the Association of Painters "Pro Arte". He painted mainly genre scenes and landscapes.
