On the composition the inscription: "Mecurio mercimo niorum preæsidi P." At the bottom, a Latin poem by author Caspar Gevaerts (1593-1666): "Ne, precor, hinc volucres flectat cyllenius alas / o Princeps, cultamque sibi ne deserat urbem et fugitiva meo redeant commercia Scaldi!". In the lower left corner is the name of the composer, Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) ("P.P. Rub. Invent") In the lower right corner is the printed signature of the engraver Theodor van Thulden (1606-1669) ("T. a. Thul. Delin. et Scalp"). Below: "C. Gevartius." Numbered in the lower left corner outside the margin: "34"; and at top left: "pag. 147. B."
