"Franciszek Niedbalski ran a workshop specializing
in making edition bindings as early as the mid-1880s, and took the guild's
master's exam in 1889. His workshop employed 22 workers, which placed him among
the largest bookbinding workshops in the city. He had machines powered by an engine
(7 horsepower).136 From the polemical articles published in the press,
very neatly worded and argued, we can presume that Niedbalski
received some school education, rare in this sphere." Source: Elżbieta Pokorzyńska, "Z dziejów introligatorstwa warszawskiego XIX i 1. połowy XX wieku". Katowice 2009, University of Silesia
