"Józef Gracjan Brojnowski (English: Gracius J. Broinowski; born March 7, 1837 in Walichnowy near Wieluń, died April 11, 1913 in Mosman, Australia) - Polish naturalist, painter. [From 1887 to 1891 Brojnowski prepared a series of volumes of an ornithological album entitled "The Birds from Australia" ("Birds of Australia"). This work was published in 38 notebooks comprising 6 volumes, which included more than 300 full-page illustrations and descriptions on more than 700 species of birds. During the several years of work on this work, Brojnowski faced financial problems. For this reason, some of the charts were published earlier, before the completion of the entire work, in a separate publishing form. Thus, in 1888, "The Pigeons of Australia" ("The Pigeons of Australia") consisting of 11 boards was published. Another 13 charts made up the volume published in a similar manner, and in the same 1888 "The Cockatoos and Nestors of Australia and New Zealand" ("Cockatoos and Nestors of Australia and New Zealand"). Due to the small circulation and the ad hoc nature of these publications, they are much rarer than the completely published 'Birds of Australia'[...]" (Wikipedia).
