The famous adventure novel by J. F. Cooper [1789-1851], a classic of this literary genre, illustrated by Michal Elviro Andriolli [1836-1893], who, already well-established artistically, worked in Paris from 1883 to 1886 for the Firmin-Didot publishing house, gaining recognition and popularity among French and European literary lovers. Andriolli's drawings were engraved by Jules Huyot.
