On the title page a dedication from one of the authors to Eugeniusz Nowak.

Kazimierz Iranek-Osmecki Having sneaked out of his home to join the Legions, he fought in the Polish-Bolshevik War in 1919-1920. He then studied at the Higher Military School, where he later taught. In 1939, as an officer on the General Staff, he made his way to Romania, and then to France and Great Britain. In London, he worked in the office of General Kazimierz Sosnowski, who heads the military underground in Poland. In November 1940 he set out as an emissary on a mission to Poland. In March 1943, he was dropped as a parachute jumper. He first headed the 4th Division of the Home Army Headquarters, the Quartermaster Division, and from the fall of 1943, after the intelligence pogrom, the 2nd Division.

After the collapse of the Uprising, he led the negotiations and wrote the surrender act. After the war, he remained in exile. He devoted much time and energy to documenting the history of the Home Army. He was one of the founders of the Study of Underground Poland, editor of various publications, director of the National Treasury office.

Eugeniusz Nowak (1943-2023) - professional soldier, historian, museologist. From 2001-2012 employee of the Department of Militaria of the National Museum in Cracow, which he headed from 2001 to 2008. He was the author of books and articles, among the most important are: "Reconnaissance Squadron of the 10th Cavalry Brigade 1938 - 1939" (Krakow 1999) and "10th Dragons Regiment" (Krakow, 2005-2006). He was also a cartoonist, and his "crannies" were published in Przekrój in 1999.
