The Ninety-Third Year (original: Quatrevingt-treize[a]) - the last novel by Victor Hugo, written between December 1872 and June 1873. Its action takes place in the Vendée during the royalist uprising in the eponymous year of 1793.
In the aftermath, the author continues his reflections on notions of divine and human justice and progress, begun in Les Miserables, published in 1862. In addition, he presents in the work his own reflections related to the phenomena of revolution and civil war.
