Rubbing of the wraps, minor stains inside. First Polish edition of the first part of Tolkien's famous Lord of the Rings trilogy. Work on the novel was begun by Tolkien during World War II. It was published in print in Great Britain in 1954-1955. "In the mid-1960s, The Lord of the Rings became a publishing phenomenon in Anglo-Saxon countries, and then around the world. The book was translated into dozens of languages (it was published in Poland in 1961-1963). Its success caused a gigantic development of fantasy novels" (Wikipedia).
