Ver Sacrum (Latin for sacred spring) the official official magazine of the Viennese Art Nouveau, founded in 1898 by Gustav Klimt and Max Kurzweil. It contained Art Nouveau-style drawings and designs, as well as literary works by prominent writers from all over Europe. Published until 1903, it was distinguished by its beautiful layout and distinctive innovative square-shaped format. The layout, typography and choice of illustrations set a model for the design of other art magazines. It published texts by Rilke, Maeterlinck, Hamsun, Dehmel, Meyer, Holz and others, as well as artwork by Orlik, Klimt, Mucha and others.
