Artwork description:
The presented painting by Andrzej Kozyra "In the South" shows a landscape with historical architecture. The abundance of details, the color scheme and the general formal character bring to mind at first the paintings of Pieter Bruegel the Elder.
Of particular note are the seemingly random, scattered objects, most of which (such as a broken ladder, an overturned flowerpot or a broken paddle) have been destroyed and are no longer usable. On the left side of the composition, a man can be seen lying down with a knife in his hand. The disturbing silence seems to be interrupted by the ringing of a bell.
What happened a moment ago? What is the result of the destruction depicted? These are questions the viewer must answer for himself.
