KOTO ko-wakizashi dagger with scabbard, circa 1356-1466r, Japan.
Description according to appraiser Arkadiusz Kultucki: blade preserved in excellent condition, well visible hada and hamon, in old original polish.
Yamashiro traditional attribution, from Yamashiro province. Nobukumi Blacksmith. Ko-wakizashi sword blade characteristic of the Nambokucho period. Narrow hamon suguha 4-5 mm wide. Small curvature slightly slanted nakago. Two narrow grooves on both sides of the blade. Hada well forged. very tight, indicates a good quality blade. The grind of the blade is original, in the Sashikomi style, showing the true image of the hataraki, unlike the Hadori grind, which shows some elements of the hart. The blade has no critical defects, such as cracks, open grain. It has only a small cut on the edge of the blade.
