USA Medal 1876 U.S. Centennial Exposition The First Century Of Liberty Medal medal for the 1876 United States Centennial. In the new Musante catalog it is call The First Century Of Liberty medal with catalog #878. This medal is also listed in the So Called Dollar catalog as HK118 and in the Baker catalog it is listed as 409B. The medal is made of white metal it is 1 5/8 inches in diameter with a hole at the top rim. Other than the hole damage this medal might grade uncirculated but if not it would be close to the uncirculated grade. The obverse shows Washington & Grant next to the U.S. shield with an eagle on top of the shield. A ribbon in the eagles beak reads E PLURIBUS UNUM. A ribbon around the shield reads WASHINGTON - 1776 - U.S. GRANT - 1876. There are 25 stars at the rim and it has CENTENNIAL at the bottom rim. On the reverse inside a wreath it reads DEDICATED - TO THE - PEOPLE OF THE - UNITED STATES - AS A MEMORIAL - OF THE FIRST - CENTURY OF - LIBERTY. Diameter: 42 mm; 26.90g. Tin.
