Polish commemorative carbuncle, so-called mourning carbuncle

steel, brass, horn, wooden lugs, leather; head length 74 cm, overall length 88 cm, curvature 5.3 cm; scabbard length 90 cm.
Poland, head 17th/18th century, frame and scabbard 19th century.
Steel head, drawn on both sides in 3 furrows; dorsal furrow slightly shorter, reaching only to the pen. On the inner lobe armor marks. Brass, cross-pointed yoke; arms ended with mace, in the middle engraved
oval with a Latin cross and the date "1863". Handle clad in horn, with bird's head; sides banded with brass band.
Scabbard (matched, from the Hussar saber of the 1st half of the 19th century) - made of wooden scuppers trimmed with leather; viscera, neck and riffle with braycar - made of steel plate.
