Andrzej Olczyk - "The house of my childhood smelled of linseed oil and turpentine. My father used to paint pictures. Books by J. Sokolowski, W. Puchalski were lying around, as someone was constantly going through them. When I was 12 years old, J.Sokolowski's "Animals from My Sketchbook" came into my hands and I decided to become, like him, a drawing ornithologist. I drew a lot, and the only subject was animals: bred parrots, insects, newts. Then in my sketchbook appeared people, objects. Over time, I noticed that while drawing I was discovering a new world, invisible in everyday life. It was getting closer and closer, however, it was always slipping away, and what was worse, it was growing.
I graduated from art studies in Cracow with a specialization in relief printing in 1986. Since then I began to participate in periodic exhibitions: Józef Gielniak Graphic Competition in Jelenia Góra, Quadriennale of Polish Woodcut and Linocut in Olsztyn, Biennale of Small Graphic Form and Exlibris in Ostrów Wielkopolski, International Graphic Competition for Exlibris in Gliwice, International Biennale of Contemporary Exlibris in Malbork. I also participated in exhibitions abroad: in Boston, Rome, Maastricht, Havirov (Czech Republic), Bitola (R Macedonia). I organized many individual exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Koszalin, Warsaw, Lodz, Opole."
