Bożena Grzyb-Jarodzka, I've been giving in my neck for two years, stencil, acrylic on paper (ed. 3/30), 40 x 30 cm, 2022
Bożena Grzyb-Jarodzka wasborn in 1959 in Wroclaw, Poland. In 1984, she received her diploma from the Faculty of Painting, Graphics and Sculpture of the Wroclaw State Higher School of Fine Arts, in the painting studio of Konrad Jarodzki (now the Academy of Fine Arts). During her studies, together with her friends from the studio, she co-founded the LUXUS group - one of the most important groups of the 1980s, with which she has cooperated and exhibited from the beginning of its activities until now, and there is no end in sight. The group's work refers to colloquial reality and each of its performances is related to current events. LUXUS artists draw from mass culture, preferring free-form, pastiche and Dadaist collages, but just as often they use text, objects, classical painting and installation. They prepare exhibitions, publish an irregular "Luxus Magazine," get into discussions and go on vacations together. Bozena Grzyb-Jarodzka's individual work is dominated by painting and is dominated by portraits. In the earlier period the inspiration was human feelings, emotions and dreams in recent years thematically women's issues prevail.
