Oil painting, created in the 1990s, dimensions 73x92cm, framed.
Bronislaw Chromy was born in 1925 in the village of Leńcze near Lanckorona. The death of his father forced him to work hard on the family farm and severely hampered the development of his innate artistic abilities. After graduating from the High School of Fine Arts, he began studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he was a student of Xawery Dunikowski. He received his diploma in 1956. The artist's oeuvre includes monumental monuments and large outdoor sculptures, as well as small statues or medals. The subject matter of his work was very diverse. Noteworthy, among others, are sculptures with historical and martyrological themes ("Auschwitz Pieta"), musical themes ("Chopin Monument"), cosmological themes (Copernicus, constellations and star systems) and animalistic themes. Among the unusual sculptures and monuments that have already permanently grown into Krakow's landscape, we should certainly mention the "Wawel Dragon" from the Vistula River, the "Fountain of the Players" from Wolnica Square, the "Owls" from the Planty, the "Sheep" from the square in front of the Agricultural Academy, as well as an unusual monument - the monument to the dog Dżok, a symbol of canine loyalty (located on the Vistula boulevards near Wawel). Animal themes can also be seen in Chromy's paintings. In March 2009, Prof. Bronislaw Chromy was awarded the Gold Medal "Meritorious to Culture Gloria Artis". Bronislaw Chromy has participated in many group and individual exhibitions. Another of Bronislaw Chromy's passions was his poetic work, crowned by published volumes, such as the volume entitled. "Sculpted with Words." The artist died in 2017 in Cracow.
