watercolor, paper, size 47 x 63 cm, signed p. d. "E. DWURNIK 77" in pencil and title medr. d. "New Monuments" in pencil and stamp on back with date and title of series
For collectors and admirers of the talent of Edward Dwurnik (1943-2018), this is a rare opportunity to acquire works almost absent from the art market. The work comes from the series "Salome," consisting of drawings and watercolors made in 1977. Prudish in their expression, the compositions were additionally stamped with the author's graphics of an eminently erotic and somewhat perverse nature, emphasizing their essentially ironic meaning. The coarse and gray reality of declining socialism in Poland, commented on in the cycles "Workers" and "Sportsmen" created at the same time, here blossoms unexpectedly with the colors brought by the unfettered vitality of the people of the People's Republic of Poland.
