He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1939 he received his diploma from Tadeusz Pruszkowski. While in Italy in 1940-1950, he was associated with the Libera Associazione Arti Figurative group and the Art Club. He was a diplomat in Italy and Canada. After returning to Poland, he became director of the Office of Cultural Cooperation with Foreign Countries at the Ministry of Culture and the Arts. He held this position from 1960 to 1969, and in 1969 took up the position of professor at his alma mater. The main motifs of Markowski's works are human figures and
animals, which the artist deliberately deforms, giving them a caricatural overtone. He was involved in stage design, working with the Gdansk Opera and Warsaw theaters. In 1963 he represented Poland at the Sao Paulo Biennale. Kazimierz Mikulski (1918 Kraków -1998 there) Studied under Paweł Dadlez and Kazimierz Sichulski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. During the occupation he studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule under Friedrich Pautsch. After the war
studied acting and directing at the Drama Studio at the Old Theater in Cracow. A member and co-founder of the Cracow Group. He was a versatile artist. He was involved in painting, drawing and stage design. He was also an actor - he performed in Kantor's underground theater and Cricot 2. From the beginning, his painting work referred to the Surrealist trend. The artist's metaphorical works are characterized by a dreamlike fairy-tale atmosphere.
