For Ewa Siemińska, painting is a field for a kind of transcription of emotions accompanying the experience of the surrounding world. The feelings it evokes she transfers into the matter of painting colors and abstract forms. The artist does not illustrate what she sees, does not reproduce in a mimetic way. She looks at the world very closely and records in her works what has caught her attention. She captures on canvas or paper memories of sensations, imagination-stirring sights or situations. Inspiration can come from a tangle of branches, a cluster of sparrows, the current of a river, the rhythmic nature of the forest, but also the fragrance-saturated atmosphere of Marrakech. Many works are peculiar notes of travel impressions. In 2020-2022, a great number of pastels were created, having references to fairy tales, earth, light, being a kind of search for sources. "Fairy Tales" is a series of works where the artist captures the mystery, contained in the fairy tale, with the color of her story. Their titles, referring rather to the situation itself and the place, point to the source of inspiration.
Whatever the starting point of her painting considerations, Ewa Sieminska uses a code of colors, abstract forms and dynamic gesture. The game of painting is to meet what is planned with what is accidental. The artist gives in to her intuition to interweave the real with what we call the inner world. The most important thing seems to be the authenticity of the experience and the transcription of one's own perception of a particular subject. Sometimes the way to create a painting is to destroy the previous one or to completely recompose it. Creation is a process that often has no end, hence the artist's statement about the closeness of her attitude and that of Jan Cybis, because following him: "Painting is not for the timid. One must know how to wait for the result."
