Image from the private collection of doc. Józef Ligęza (1910-1972), prominent ethnographer, folklorist, collector of Silesian folk songs, director of the Upper Silesian Museum in Bytom in 1963-1972.

Painter, draughtsman, museologist. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under J. Mehoffer, X. Dunikowski and J. Wojnarski (1925-1933), graduating with honors. He lived in Cracow until 1935, from where he moved to Warsaw. During the Warsaw Uprising, the artist's apartment and studio were burned down. After the war, he became associated with Gliwice. The artist's pre-war work refers to the achievements of Polish Colorism, the post-war years are inspired by Cezanne and the post-cubism of Picasso and Braque.
