Jan STASINIEWICZ
1907 Rzeszów - 1966
In 1925-27 he studied art history at the Jagiellonian University in Cracow and at the same time studied painting at the Free School of Painting and Drawing under Jerzy Fedkowicz. In 1927 he got into the coveted Academy of Fine Arts and studied there until 1932 in the studio of Wojciech Weiss, among others. After graduation, the artist settled in Nowy Wisnicz, and visited Krakow occasionally. At that time he mainly created portraits and still lifes. After World War II, he undertook a variety of works somewhat related to his learned profession. He stayed in Opole and Katowice.
At that time, the tendencies in his work towards a significant simplification of forms, geometrization and rhythmization of compositions intensified. The influence of avant-garde trends - Fauvism, Cubism or Futurism - also began to be visible.
