Painter and printmaker. Studied at the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, in the studios of Zbigniew Pronaszko, Wacław Taranczewski. He also took lessons in the graphics department of Andrzej Jurkiewicz and Konrad Srzednicki. He completed his studies in 1951. While still a student, he debuted at the First Exhibition of Modern Art in Cracow in 1948. From 1963 to 1967, he held the position of lecturer at the Interior Design Department of his alma mater. Then, in 1974, he worked in Warsaw at the Academy of Fine Arts there. In 1985, he received the title of associate professor at this very university,
and in 1987-1990 was its rector. He was the recipient of many awards, including the Jan Cybis Award in 1984.
