Biography
Graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (now the Academy of Fine Arts), where he studied under Eugeniusz Geppert. He defended his diploma in 1954 and worked there as a teacher in 1957-60. A member and co-founder of the Group X, formed in 1956, which also included: Małgorzata Grabowska, Krzesława Maliszewska and Alfons Mazurkiewicz. From 1961 he was associated with the Wroclaw School. He was briefly influenced by the work of Paul Klee and Tadeusz Makowski. Gradually, he pursued an increasing synthesis of shapes towards abstract art. He then turned to geometric landscapes, often inspired by the familiar landscapes of Nowy Sącz and the surrounding area.
