Biography
Studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, where she defended her diploma in Prof. Leon Tarasewicz's painting studio and Prof. Miroslaw Duchowski's studio of art in public space in 2009. She is the author of paintings and installations presented in the public space of the city. In January 2010 she won a competition organized by the Marymont subway station in Warsaw. The large-format mural ''Lamb of God'' displayed there brought fame to the artist. In November of the same year, Curyło received the Grand Prix of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the award of the BWA City Gallery in Bydgoszcz during PROMOCJA 2010 at the Art Gallery in Legnica. In May 2011, she was nominated for the prestigious award of the 10th Geppert Competition. In the same year there were three individual exhibitions of the artist: ''Indulgences and Miraculous Sightings'' at the Wozownia Art Gallery in Toruń, ''Magical Reality,'' at the Legnica Art Gallery, and ''Indulgences and Miraculous Sightings'' at the Gray Gallery and Strefa A Gallery in Cracow. The following years brought further numerous exhibitions and presentations of Curyło's art, including her objects exhibited in urban spaces, including in Warsaw, Poznań (No Women No Art festival) and Bydgoszcz. In 2012, Julia Curyło was among the top 15 in the Kompas Młodej Sztuki ranking of the most significant young artists. In the same year she received a scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for the realization of a series of pneumatic sculptures ''Chickens''.
