Painter, son of Michał Stanko, associated with the artistic circles of Silesia and Zakopane. Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under W. Weiss, I. Pieńkowski and F. Pautsch (1945-1947). He worked at the Bielsko Drawing Film Studio and the Drawing Film Studio in Warsaw, and from 1956 was a member of the Warsaw group of artists-artists "Zachęta". Best known for his landscapes of the Tatra Mountains, he also painted motifs from the Silesian Beskid and the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic Highlands, and less frequently took up genre, portrait or nude subjects.
