Leszek Stanko - painter, draughtsman, illustrator. Born in 1924 in a family with artistic traditions: his father Michal Stanko was a well-known landscape painter. Stanko studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studios of Wojciech Weiss, Ignacy Pienkowski and Fryderyk Pautsch. He worked at the Bielsko Drawing Film Studio and the Drawing Film Studio in Warsaw. However, he became famous primarily as a landscape painter - since childhood he used to visit the Tatra Mountains with his father and the mountains remained the main theme of his work, thus inscribing himself in the Tatra school of landscape painting.
