Biography
Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. She earned her diploma in 1996 in painting under Prof. M. Wagner and in the decorative print studio of Prof. M. Zielińska. In 1995 she was awarded second prize in the Wł. Strzemiński Competition. She is involved in painting and designing unique clothing. She is a member of the St. George Artists Association in Lodz. Most often she uses very traditional means of expression. Only a few paintings are created a year, which is related to the time-demanding technique of painting on a board, using natural grounds, glazes and varnish. On the artist's canvases one can look in vain for traces of experimentation, spontaneous expression or free gesture. Both in the paintings and in the "clothes" every element of the composition, every formal procedure used, serves to build meaning. All the motifs of the representations are carefully studied, thoughtful and meaningful. The symbolism that is important for the interpretation of these paintings is hidden in the details: the faithfully rendered black lace, the ornamental collars menacingly poking into the necks of the women wearing them, the tangled stems of plants, the hands with black nails, the transparent pupils of eyes devoid of eyelashes.
