Biography
Graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in Częstochowa in 1966. Initially engaged in applied graphics, then devoted himself to painting, improving on his own. In 1979 he became a member of the Association of Polish Artists. In his paintings, he referred to the Dutch masters' still lifes of the 17th century, giving his paintings a mood of magical realism. He also painted portraits. He participated in many exhibitions at home and abroad, including Japan, Monaco, Austria, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, Hungary and the United States. 1987 he became a member of the European Academy of Art, Science and Literature in Paris. Marian Michalik died tragically in a car accident, having lived only 50 years. In 2001, a prize named after him was founded in Czestochowa for young Polish painters. To date, the winners have been Grażyna Smalej, Wojciech Kubiak, Jaroslaw Lewera, Malgorzata Synak-Idczak, Jacek Sztuka and Bartosz Wilun).
