oil, acrylic, canvas; 70 x 50 cm;
signed and dated on the reverse, on the painter's loom: MARTYNA CZECH 2014
[in marker].
Martyna Czech is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts at the Academy of Arts
Fine Arts in Katowice, where she received her diploma in the atelier of Andrzej Tobis.
In 2015, she was awarded the Grand Prix of the Biennale of Painting "Bielska
Autumn", and in 2019 she was nominated for the Passports of Polityka. Her emotional
painting is one of the most interesting among artists of the young
generation. Through the artistic means used
she is also associated with the current of new expression of the 1980s. The artist
paints observed events, moving her enough to arouse
her incomprehension, disagreement or even resentment. Martyna Czech in her
paintings does not avoid extreme emotions, she uses misanthropy as an impulse
to take up a subject that interests her, which is well expressed in the title
and text for the exhibition "Venom" organized at the Bielska Galeria BWA. At the same time
positive feelings are evoked in her by animals, which in the interpretation of the
artist can be a counterbalance to the figure of man or, on the contrary
vice versa - they personify him.
