Oil on canvas, dimensions: 90 x 60 cm, signed P Minster

Marzena Naliwajko, born 1964, is a graduate of the State High School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, in 2002 she received a diploma in painting in the studio of Roman Nowotarski. Marzena Naliwajko's work is deeply rooted in the theme of human existence, the painter portrays the fate of man through the thread of a woman's life starting from birth, through adolescence and finally maturity. The painting series begins with a study of a child-girl immersed in fears, fantasies and curiosity to discover the world. Here the artist recovers her own emotional childhood through the childhood of her daughter, who at this time is the main object of analytical work. There are cycles related to birth-creation (Eden-feeding season), where the model becomes the biblical Eve, whom the artist finds in Eden as a seeker and rebel (The World is Strange), (Expedition), ( Escape), (Lilith), (Asylum) and finally an emancipated woman, conscious of her choice, whom the painter leads out of Eden (Ready to Leave) thus beginning a new chapter of her work.

Later, Marzena Naliwajko adopts the pseudonym Pola Minster and departs from her previous subject matter and aesthetics. She enters the world of the Big City and leads her model (now a mature woman) into the cramped, dense solitude of the metropolitan landscape. The subject of her work becomes an emancipated woman, demanding self-determination, strong but lonely in her complicated choices and social relations. Models become part of the canvases, lending them their complex personalities, thickening the space with their own emotions. Working with a live model and close interpersonal contact is a requirement for the creation of a new painting. Complementing the drama on the canvas is always a title that closes the content with its meaning. The artist paints in oil on canvas, multi-layered with the inclusion of underpainting.
